Small blog meet

Lynne at Lily's Quilts is hosting a small blog meet for people with small blogs (less than 50 followers) to get to know each other.  My blog definitely qualifies as small, and I would love to have more interaction with others in the quilty-bloggy world.

I have realised that many of my posts just contain a description of what I have been doing, without providing much opportunity for comment or advice.  I will definitely be changing that with coming posts.

I do have quite a few things lined up - I finished this quilt, and just need to take some photos of the finished product to put up here.

Over the weekend, I made a new quilt top using the Giant Star Tutorial at In Color Order, using some of the prints from Laura Gunn's Garden Wall collection.  I love this bird fabric (image from the Michael Miller website)

I am really happy with how my giant star quilt is turning out so far, but will be looking for some advice on how I should quilt it.  The different colours and my use of semi solid fabrics is perplexing me a bit.  I will post pictures of that quilt top when I have had a chance to take some.

I would love suggestions on blog topics - what are you interested in?  I can see from my blog stats that people from around the world find their way here - is anyone interested in finding out more about New Zealand?  Kiwi quilters - are you interested in NZ specific topics (i.e., local quilt shops, things that are happening in NZ, etc.)?  I am a member of what you would call a fairly traditional guild - is anyone interested in my experiences there?

I look forward to checking out some of the other small blogs linking up at Lily's Quilts.

I love your bird fabrics! I hadn't visited here before, I came through from Lynne's blog. I'll be linking up soon too, but I can't get that button to work. I see you have managed to add it to your post, so I will try again. See you around!

Hello, I've just come over from Lily's Quilts. Love your blog, you seem to enjoy similar projects to me ;-) Laughed to see your mosaic, I'd noticed it in the competition, because of the 'thistle'. We've just totally renovated our kitchen, and used wall tiles in thistle. I'm now looking out for thistle coloured fabrics for a few kitchen related sewing projects.

Hi Adrianne, it seems you're a no reply blogger so I couldn't email you back about the spinning stars problems- that does make it harder to build a network too I think. I did a trial run and had no problem with the bias, and then I over ironed my real ones and ended up having a nightmare. The Flickr group has loads of good advice on starching and pressing not ironing the blocks or someone has created some downloadable paper piecing blocks too- see the conversation threads in the spinning stars Flickr group. My email address is on my blog if you have any questions. Ange x
