Drunk on blue and green

A few weeks ago I shared this blue and green drunkard's path quilt top.  I think I got it basted pretty quickly after that but it has taken me a while to get it quilted.

Drunk on Blue and Green

For this quilt I used a kind of batting that I haven't tried before, Quilter's Dream Green Batting which is made from recycled bottles.  How cool is that?  I thought it went pretty well with the theme of the quilt.  I got this batting from Massdrop and a twin size package was more than enough to baste this quilt.  I used my usual pin basting method and I didn't have any major issues with it, although I use a hera marker to mark my quilts and I found this batting didn't take the crease as well as cotton batting usually would.

I decided to quilt a cross-hatch grid on a slightly wonky angle.  I wanted to keep the quilting simple but slightly off key.  I used about 5 or 6 different blue and green threads, including Wonderfil, King Tut and Mettler.  The colour differences are pretty subtle in the finished quilt.

Drunk on Blue and Green

I'm pretty delighted with how this quilt has turned out.  It was a surprisingly easy, quick make, and the pieced back is a bit of fun.

This quilt was actually on my Q2 FAL list!  I think this is my first finish for this quarter - I need to get back to that list and make some progress!

2015 Finish-Along

Hopefully everyone else is doing better than me with their Q2 FAL lists!

It is a lovely quilt Adrianne. Regretfully I will only have one finish done this quarter but it won't count I think because while I said I would make a quilt for my hubby's 55th birthday the fabric and pattern I used is completely different from what I picked out.

I love the blues and greens together. The combination always reminds me of the sea.

I love the blue and green, I am hoping to get the same sort of colour combo happening on a plus quilt. I am pleased to say that yes, I am a bit further ahead on my QAL - I think I have just finished the fourth project on my list!

The quilt positively glows - great colour combinations. Thanks for the angled 1" grid idea - perfect for one of WIPS.

Very beautiful finish! I love dream green batting and use it for 90% of the quilts I make. I definitely agree that it doesn't take a crease the same as a cotton batting.

I love this Adrianne! I saw a similar quilt at Millrose Cottage here in Victoria a few weeks ago and I only thought about it again last night, wondering whether I might make one or ask my bee buddies to make some blocks for me!! They say imitation is the highest form of flattery!!

Nice quilt!! A drunkard's path quilt has been on my list for a loooong time. Your quilt makes me want to move it closer to the top of my to do list.

These are also my favorite colors and I love this quilt so much! It is just beautiful, but still with a useful feel, if that makes sense. It looks like a quilt that I would snuggle in and feel completely better if anything had been bothering me :) it is gorgeous, so it could be hung on a wall, but everyone would want to take it down and use it! That's how it makes me feel, anyway., happy, calm, and thankful that people want to bring so much beauty into the world.
