Scrap pile to kindle cover

I've been really busy at work lately which means I'm not really getting any sewing time during the week.  It's not ideal but it does reflect the fact that I'm doing some interesting stuff at work so life's not all bad!  Anyway, that's the reason that this weekend, I really needed an instant gratification project - something I could knock out from start to finish in a couple of hours.

Scrap pile

I started with my scrap pile and pulled a few random bits and pieces to improv piece together.  I then quilted my improv panels with straight lines and turned them into a simple pouch for my kindle.  Of course, I used my favourite open wide pouch tutorial from Noodlehead, except that I didn't box the corners and I didn't use any measurements.

Putting the zipper in took me far longer than it should (I sewed it facing into the lining, twice), but now that the pouch is done. I really love it.  The cute little bunny zipper pull just adds to it and having a little something handmade in my handbag makes me happy.

Tell me - do you like to have a little handmade goodness in your life too?

Such a great pouch. I feel your pain, the day jobs takes up way too much time! I made pillows the last couple of weekends for the instant gratification.

Yes. I find making quick and easy projects are fun and satisfying as it takes a lot of time to make the bugger projects. Great to have little gifts around for birthdays and "just because" gifts.

Always have something handmade within reach. My cell phone case I crocheted, all my baby's blankets are made by me, most of my throws are homemade and I love having my stuff everywhere.

Love the bunny. The instant gratification and having something handmade close by is exactlt why I love making bags

Love the Kindle bag - great for on the plane. I find i am always making cute little things as gifts and not for me! On Tuesday after work I made a drawstring bag from tutorial just to carry your Fox Field Fabric out to show Helen :-)

A very cute kindle bag. I am all for finding quick projects as well, just to feel like after a hard week at work I had time for myself. I am thinking of a make up bag for business trips..

Just lovely, Adrianne! Do you have a source for such cute zipper pulls?

It is fabulous and I never thought about making that tutorial without the box corners! I have to say that the bunny pull tab just makes it PERFECT!
