This is what I'm working on this week (amongst other things) - hand stitching the binding on to my brother's equilateral triangle quilt. Because this quilt is so large (about 84" by 87"), I had it basted for me by local long arm quilter Sue Burnett. It was so nice not to have to spend hours on the floor pin basting this, and I loved not having to take pins out as I was quilting - I consider this totally money well spent.
The time spent wrestling this quilt through my little machine was worthwhile - I really love the texture that straight line quilting at 1/2" intervals has given this quilt.
Two more sides to go - I can't get wait to get this one finished!
What are you up to this week - and have you ever had a quilt basted by a long arm quilter?

I haven't and I'm very curious! Is it easy enough to take the basting stitches out? (I'm assuming that's what you do)
Gorgeous! Look forward to seeing it finished!
It's looking good. Your quilting has given a great texture as you say. Having the basting done sounds very appealing!
Ooh, looking forward to the big ta-dah reveal! It looks beautiful and I would love to make an eq.triangle quilt.
Have never had a quilt basted for me- sounds tempting for a large a quilt. Stitches or pins or spray? This is looking great! Love the colours. Have we seen it before here? Maybe not since I've been following. I'm straight line quilting a quilt at the moment too, but I'm totally stalled, it's so tedious! I think maybe I need to dedicate a block of time and get stuck in properly so I make faster progress.
Pretty! I love that texture!
I'm starting to really like the straight line quilting with small spacing between the lines. It looks fantastic.
I've had a quilt quilted by a long arm quilter, but never basted by one so I could quilt it. I never even considered that, but it sounds like a better idea than crawling around on the floor smoothing and pinning.
That quilting looks amazing!
The quilt looks great, and you are correct, there is nothing better then straight line quilting.
This looks great, I love those colors. I can't wait to see the finished product :)
I finished a triangle quilt about two weeks ago, it was my first but I am hooked! I love the look of the one you've made, and the quilting is very nice. I've never done anything other than pin basting...I don't even know any long arm quilters!
I love your straight lines and yes all those straight lines give a nice effect! I didn't know LAer's baste quilts for people.
Really love your quilting!
This looks great. I love it :-)
I didn't know that was an option! I'm not comfortable with claiming to have "made a quilt" when I actually paid someone else to do all the quilting for me, (though I've got no trouble saying my parents built their house, when they were neither architect nor construction crew...) but I'd be quite comfortable with that! If you don't mind, how much would a service like that cost?
