WIP Wednesday

I am experiencing a most unusual desire to make a Christmas quilt at the moment.  Honestly, in New Zealand, the last thing you really need at Christmas time is a quilt - it's the middle of summer for goodness sake.  Never mind, I'm going to make one anyway!

Last year Aneela Hoey's Christmas collection, Cherry Christmas caught my eye, but I resisted because I didn't think I'd really want to make a Christmas quilt (duh!).  It's oh so cute, and when it was still on my mind several months later, I decided to bite the bullet and bought a fat quarter bundle on etsy.  I'm in the process of cutting all my fat quarters into strips for another scrappy trip along quilt.  I think this will be a good project for when I feel like a bit of mindless sewing over the coming weeks!

Are you suffering from Christmas-in-July-itis too?

P.S. On Sunday the 21st of July I will have been blogging for one year, and I'm definitely celebrating!  Check back then for at least one giveaway.

I guess it's like Christmas in July at your place. Any time of year is good for a quilt and you have some lovely fabric here to work with - enjoy!

Only when I see cool Christmas fabric, like you! I am hankering after these https://www.fabric.com/buy/220890/michael-miller-tammis-angels-panel-red. Maybe I'll give in this year and making something out of them! x

I live in Perth, Western Australia and it's too hot here for quilts at Christmas too ... but maybe, just maybe a Christmas wall hanging?

No Christmas quilt here, although I am working on my reindeer embroidery! The only Christmas quilt I ever made was distinctly un-Christmassy colour-wise and I still love it!

I love those fabrics! I think it'll be so fun to have a Christmas quilt even if it's warm there.

Can't wait to see more.

I just printed out 14 star blocks from Carol Doak's 50 Fab. PP Stars book. I'll be using them for my Christmas Stars quilt, that may or may not get finished in time for Christmas!
Can't wait to see your scrappy trip along!

I think this is the perfect time to do a Christmas quilt! That way it will be done for Christmas!

Enjoy your new project. I am working with her fabrics right now too. They are just so adorable and say "England" to me. Happy stitching and will check back for your anniversary.

Such a sweet line... I can't wait to see what you do with it! I've pulled out a Christmas UFO for my piecing project... hope to get it to a long arm quilter in time to use it this Christmas.

Your quilt will be adorable with those fabrics. I hope there will be some left when I get around to being ready to buy them. I have so many Christmas projects lined up but so far there has been no 'Christmas in July' for me. Too busy with everything else. Can't wait to see the finished Christmas quilt!

I think you have to make a Christmas quilt whenever the urge possesses you. You may never feel like you want to make one again, so do it! Love those fabrics--not at all cheesy Christmas.

That is going to be such a fun quilt. I really like this collection too, I'm looking forward to seeing your quilt :)

I found a great deal on a Cherry Christmas layer cake; I just started cutting into it yesterday! I, for one, am all for Christmas in July. Living in the desert, gotta steal some snow when you can! I adore Cherry Christmas, and I think it's the only Christmas line I've seen where every single one of the prints is ~perfection~ for me, haha. Have you decided which pattern you'll use for yours?? I'm using this one http://thevintageclothespin.blogspot.com/2012/08/grandmas-window-quilt.html#.UemUqdJ4yVo Simple, I think it'll look great with the prints on display ♥

I bought some of that fabric last year, too. I love it. I made a bunch of hst with it and they are still in a bag. I so (sew?) need to put those together into a nice x-mas quilt. Thanks for the inspiration!
